School Assembly

On Friday Waikanae School had a wonderful assembly in Memorial Hall. One of the highlights for us was our class singing 'Where have all the flowers gone?' with Room 6.

We were also lucky enough to hear Maui sing his gold winning performance 'We are young' from Y Factor.

Circus Elephant Sketches

Today we had a go at sketching cartoon circus elephants and writing descriptions. The children found it incredibly difficult but I am proud of their efforts. Here are a few of them!

I work at a circus. It is fun but sometimes it is very hard. I have an elephant. She is very nice and very nice to other people. She wears a nice colourful saddle. She has grey bumpy skin and is a little bit furry. Hello I am called Ellie Elephant. I like it when they cheer for me but I wish they could laugh. One day I got so fed up that I had to make the crowd laugh a lot. The next day the cleaners left a bucket of water. I had a plan.

Once there was an elephant called Craig. He likes to hang upside down. Craig also likes to jump through elephant sized rings. The rings are gold. Craig is formidable. Craig swings his trunk almost all the time. [Written by Sachin]

Once upon a time there was a tiger and an elephant. He likes to play with the ball and put the balls on his back. He likes to go in the water. He likes to drink water and swim in the water. He likes to lie in the sun.

Circus Challenge

Last Tuesday Room 1 saw a wonderful circus show by Tintin called Circus Challenge.

The children got to see juggling, Tintin riding on a unicycle, plate spinning and many other fun tricks.

They also got to participate in a workshop where they learnt to juggle and spin plates.

We now continue our circus theme in class. The children have produced some wonderful written recounts of their circus experience. Feel free to come in to our classroom and have a look!
